History of 608 Julia Street, now the Blueberry Inn, Poplarville, MS

  • Pierre Carver  (top left) and Mary Bourgeois resided on land from Simon Farve that became Gainesville, that Lady Bird Johnson bought and gave to NASA.  
  • Randolph Orville Carver (top right) and Ada DeCordavilla Slayden (middle two) left Gainesville, MS in 1904 and the house on Julia Street was a one room carriage house at the time.
  • Vivian Orr Carver (bottom two pics) and Harold Pierre Carver, Sr. added on multiple rooms and a top story and kept in the tradition of hospitality from Vivian's mother, Mrs. Minnie Katherine Hyde Orr from Meridian who opened the first hotel in Poplarville.
